KEYNOTE MELODIC – Multicloud Optimization And Cloud Agnostic Deployment Platform
Presentation of the open source MELODIC platform developed within H2020 MELODIC project. The platform allows for mulitcloud, cloud provider agnostic deployment of the application with advanced optimization capabilities. MELODIC is integrated with AWS, Azure, GCP and Open Stack based cloud
providers and supports Virtual Machines, Containers, Big Data Frameworks (Spark) and serverless components. Due to highly advanced optimization capabilities using both deterministic (Constraint Programming Solver) and reinforcement learning methods (Learning Automata Solver) MELODIC is able to solve complex optimization problems. Using sophisticated utility based approach is possible to find the best deployment and automaticaly deploy all components. Thanks to built in mulit layer metrics gathering system based on ESPER MELODIC is able to monitor applications and theirs metrics. In case of the violation of the metric value MELODIC automatically reconfigures applications looking for better deployment configuration. The above capabilities sets new standard for multicloud optimization and deployment. Comparing to container based schedulers like Kuberenets MELODIC allows for multi type components deployment (Vms, Big Data, containers, serverless) and dynamically adding and removing cloud resources, based on the current needs of application.

FusionDirectory at Campus Condorcet: Give Access to Services and Allow the User to Control its Identity
For once, this presentation  will not be technical but is placed at user level, process and use case for a variety of different populations.

Campus Condorcet, future campus of social sciences, will receive very different user populations and therefore will need transparent processes that can accommodate these populations in a transparent manner and respectful of the GDPR.

The challenge was to allow registration campaigns conducted by reference persons in institutions in a flexible and fast manner.

Then, it should also allow other audiences to obtain accounts for access to very large documentary equipment and other services that will appear throughout these years.

This conference will show how free software has made it possible to implement this IAM solution in a record time, create reusable processes while leaving ease and security at the heart of the system.

How CLIF Saved the Benchmarking Campaign of Orange's New Home IoT Service "Maison Connectée"
In April 2019, Orange opened their new Home IoT service "Maison Connectée". Orange subscribers with a compatible Livebox just have to download the application and buy some DECT-ULE connected devices. Then, possibly almost 3 millions homes may open a permanent network connection to the service platform, which is a technical challenge... also for the benchmarking campaign!
We found that CLIF was the only performance testing software able to massively generate network connections and traffic, thanks to its distributed traffic generation support and its ability to run an arbitrary number of virtual users on each traffic generator.
This talk will show how we used and contributed to CLIF to support up to 60 thousands simultaneous MQTT connections per traffic generator, with one virtual user emulating the traffic of a Livebox with its associated connected devices. We also explain how we used the same CLIF scenarios to perform integration tests and live Quality of Experience monitoring.

SeedStack: New Application Patterns
The design of cloud information systems requires usage of cloud ready development frameworks like SeedStack. SeedStack coding approach comes with some major benefits: compliance with open source cloud standards, modular design and clean code. Using domain driven design and bounded context concept, the microservices are finely identified. Operational elements like performance measures, APIs for connecting ressources are provided by SeedStack in order to prepare the integration of a cloud ready application with the host. SeedStack project templates and automation accelerate the development of cloud ready microservices. This presentation shows recent updates of SeedStack for building and operating modern architectures (microservices, Kafka, containers).

Latest Trends of the GLPI Project: Automation, Cybersecurity and Green IT
GLPI is an asset management solution developed by Teclib, with a flexible plugins system that allows powerful extensions and easy customization. GLPI manage large assets of desktops and servers and can also manage fleets of mobiles using the Flyve Mobile Device Management solution that is based on GLPI.
We will present recent and future developments of GLPI, targeting automation capabilities, Cybersecurity management and green IT functionalities.
Automating management is a must-have for large IT systems; GLPI now supports full automation through integration of Ansible, the major open source solution for IT automation. Integration allows to use GLPI as an Ansible inventory source or to run playbooks within GLPI.
When talking about Cybersecurity, inventory of assets is the first task that lies with IT security management. Future developments of GLPI will allow to integrate automatic discovery of vulnerabilities and tracking of identified vulnerabilities of an Information System.
Finally, as global climate change warnings raise everyday, controlling the power consumption of IT assets becomes unavoidable. GLPI will include in a future version a set of plugins for power management, allowing to apply in a centralized way power management policies in order to reduce significantly the power consumption of an Information System.

Breakout Session - Fossology Community Workshop

It's now safe to say that any typical piece of software now contains open source code.

You probably know, however, that while open source software delivers many benefits, it also presents certain license related risks, that have to be tamed.

To achieve this, specialized tools are required to analyze the product to determine which open source components are used, and, more importantly their licences and copyrights.
At Orange, we have been using a proprietary solution, Fossology, and are currently deploying OSS Review Toolkit.

How are you handling the open source compliance topic ? With what tools, what process?
What are your blocking points, how do you overcome them ?

Maybe your are also using Fossology, let's join forces to develop new features and fix bugs.

Let's meetup to discuss all this, share O/S compliance experiences, discuss features, bugs, processes.

All unfinished discussions can then naturally be continued during the Free Cocktail Party right afterwards :-)

Functional Testing with Docker and Test Containers
As a developer, it really helps being able to debug on one's own machine a problem that happened in production, in a given configuration of the software! This is what the TestContainers framework allows doing. It lets you drive Docker directly from within your unit tests and thus to have a very efficient mechanism to run your functional tests in a given environment.

This session will present TestContainers, applied to a real use case (XWiki), with a demonstration of how to use it for writing tests involving a database, a Servlet engine and more. What will be shown: JUnit5 integration, creating a custom Docker image right from within your unit tests, automatic recording of videos of running tests and integration with a Jenkins pipeline to iterate over all the configurations to test.

FaSilET²: Full end-to-end Testing Solution
FaSilET² is an Open Source really end to end testing solution. End to end means it can input data on a UI, check that the UI is modified according to certain rules and also check that the data modification led to a database field modification, a new line in a log file, a mail sent, and so on.
This solution is based on Perl scripts with a high abstraction level, thanks to Perl modules, so almost every developper or tester can write testing scripts.
Another key point is that FaSilET² can check the whole project, including logs, mails, databases, etc. All tests are made in real-life situation without modifying anything on servers. Only SSH access is required.
FaSilET² uses "actuators" to simulate users input and checking results on UI and "validators" to check logs, databases, etc. on local or remote servers.
FaSilET² uses LXC containers to start validators in parallel of actuators scripts so they don't interfer.
Some metrology modules can also be used to check CPU, RAM, disk space, etc. on servers while running tests.

Configurations: Do You Prove Yours ?
How can we be sure of the continuous configuration management proper operation? How to expose factual topic-related reports to dev, sec, managers, customers...?

We believe that, in order to deliver the full business and collaboration value of continuous configuration management, the solution needs to go further than simply applying policies - it must ensure configuration reliability; prove historized application and status; share it to other teams; notify of any drift with a relevant context.

This talk will present why and how we should be concerned about transmitting factual measures on infrastructure management to all parties involved. We will also guide you through the journey to include a full-fledged reporting feature in a configuration management solution.

All Data Accessible to All My Organization or Even My Ecosystem and this Simply
It is clear that all employees must have access to data wherever they are to make decisions. However, tools that allow to share data just as easily as the best collaborative tools such as a google doc or an office 365 should be used.
Open source driven by the big data ecosystem and a number of large companies have provided solutions to allow organizations to federate  data systems and secure their access.
After a quick overview of existing open source solutions, and how such projects can be organized, it will be necessary to detail Dremio implementation, a unique and centralized interface on all your data. Some real feedbacks will conclude the presentation.

Introducing The Document Foundation
One of OW2's newest Affiliate organisations, The Document Foundation is a global charity based in Germany that works to promote open source productivity tools. Its flagship project, LibreOffice, is available across major desktop platforms and continues the fourth decade of impact for the code that started life as Star Writer on CP/M.
TDF's governance draws from the best examples in the open source free software community and has attracted exceptional levels of contribution for the projects it hosts, LibreOffice and the Document Liberation Project. The Foundation is funded predominantly by public donations and now has a capable staff serving its community. TDF works to maintain balance between its software freedom mission and the commercial needs of its community members.
Once member, Collabora Productivity, has ported LibreOffice to the cloud, creating LibreOffice Online and seeding a new community and market opportunity in which OW2 members can participate.

Collaborative Email: Driving The Open Source Revolution in an American Proprietary Stronghold
The enterprise email industry is dominated by American solutions such as Microsoft Exchange, O365, Domino or Gmail. This raises a number of valid questions about sovereignty. Where’s the data stored? What does the application actually do? Who has access to it? What laws are data and applications subject to? Whether you’re a user or an email service provider, there are alternatives to ensure the sovereignty of your mail platform.
BlueMind is a French complete collaborative enterprise email and unified communications solution. We offer any type of organisation the possibility to opt for a sovereign, open and competitive email solution on par with American giants. In this speech, BlueMind's founder Pierre Baudracco, will explain the journey of building such a revolution and the expected outcomes.

KEYNOTE - Free Software: Mainstream in Industry, What About Society
Throughout history technology has influenced society. Reading, writing, arithmetic, agriculture, printing and radio are all examples of developments that changed the way we interact through trade, art and science. The most important cultural technology of the 21st century is software. It runs our workplaces, laptops, mobile phones as well as less obvious places like trains, cars, televisions, washing-machines, fridges, and many other devices. Today it depends on software how the government can implement laws, who will be able to join which university or job, or if and how long people might end up in jail. As people and companies who create software, we should consider how our actions influence the distribution of power in our society — and thereby our democracy.

Web 4.0 - Objects in the Browser - Finally Here Now
If we want to build an Internet of Things, we have to build an Internet of Services first. This is what i said 2005. After inventing it in the cluster project Theseus in germany... it is now tim to reveal web 4.0 a web iot operating system...
Can I be helpful to you?
However web technologies are increasing dramatically in use by these trends, but did never get a major upgrade during that time... so we invented Web 4.0 two years ago an are now ready to do early access projects for web applications and iot.
Our new Web4.0 development environment delivers a lot of value to iot labs which are being created around the world... we increase web developer productivity by factor 10 even for less experienced developers and enable their company to create intellectual property on reusable web components which can be dragged and dropped from one webpage to another seamlessly
we are looking for more early access customers wo create a new web application or iot system from scratch and corresponding outsourcing delivery companies to jointly do these early access programs

DevOps for Trusted, Portable and Interoperable Multi-Cloud Applications Towards The Digital Single Market, DECIDE Project
DECIDE provides a new generation of multi-cloud service-based software framework, enabling techniques and mechanisms to design, develop, and dynamically deploy multi-cloud aware applications in an ecosystem of reliable, interoperable, and legal compliant cloud services.
DECIDE provides a set of architectural patterns and the needed tools to develop and operate (following the DevOps approach) multi-cloud aware applications that can be dynamically self-adapt or be re-deployed using different cloud services. Furthermore, DECIDE also sets up an ecosystem of trusted, interoperable and legally compliant cloud services (ACSmI-Advanced Cloud Service meta-Intermediator) and the required mechanisms to register, discover, compose, use and assess them.

The ARCITECT design-pattern selection tool, the OPTIMUS deployment simulation tool and the continuous deployment support tool (DECIDE ADAPT), go beyond the state-of-the-art in several ways. On one hand, they provide the most adequate deployment application topology based on a set of users’ requirements. On the other hand, they automate the provisioning and the deployment for multi-cloud applications based on the modelling of cloud resources at multiple cloud layers (IaaS, PaaS), multiple cloud nodes and of multiple cloud providers both at design-time and run-time.
Multi-cloud applications in DECIDE refer to applications that dynamically can distribute their components over heterogeneous cloud resources and still hold the functional, business and non-functional properties declared in their SLAs. Service based software deployed on multiple cloud providers require means to discover, aggregate (compose), and consume cloud services, functionalities provided by the DECIDE ACSmI (Advanced Cloud Service meta-Intermediator).

Integrating and Deploying Heterogeneous Legacy Components Inspired On A Microservice Architecture With The CROSSMINER Project
The CROSSMINER project is open source project which basically focus on increasing dependence on open-source software (OSS) over the last years and the decisions related to depending on open-source software. The project is forked from a previous project called OSSMETER. The complexity and diversity of its legacy components raised challenges related to the integration and the communications between the build-in components and security aspects for the whole project. In this context, we would present how we used the Microservice techniques with docker to perform an integration and deployment of these heterogeneous legacy components.

How to MEASURE The Enterprise Architecture Models Quality With The MEASURE Platform, The H2020 Databio Project Success Story
Softeam is specialized in modelling technologies through its modelling software “Modelio”. It includes methods and languages of designing software, systems and enterprise architecture according to well-known standards such as UML, BPMN, ArchiMate, etc. Softeam has been working on providing ArchiMate models for the DataBio project that can help understanding, communicating and collaborating between the partners.
The DataBio ArchiMate models cover the agriculture, forestry, fishery pilots and the technologies included in this project. The works on these models has started since the beginning of the project and the generated diagrams have been included in most of the deliverables.
Due to the importance of having these kinds of models for understanding the architecture of such big project, Softeam has been working on developing “ArchiMate Metrics” that guarantee good quality for the models. For this end, Softeam is using a “Measure Platform” to monitor all “ArchiMate” Modelio repositories used by all models contributors. “Measure Platform” was developed during the “Measure” project (http://measure.softeam-rd.eu/) and is basically a web app used for collecting measures and monitoring the quality of projects.
The presentation will show how Archimate MEASURE metrics applied have been applied to Databio pilots as new metrics within the ITEA 3 project MEASURE platform. Through the newly developed metrics it is possible to analyze ArchiMate models in order to evaluate the value of the business architectures through time with MEASURE visualization dashboards. Future work will also be presented on new ideas on possible metrics based on ArchiMate models in order to obtain possible predictive analysis (e.g. too many isolated elements and elements of not high importance could lead to a model with inferior enterprise architecture value).
A set of pre-defined complex measures to select from when creating a measure instance are already available open source on GitHub at https://github.com/ITEA3-Measure/Measures/tree/master/predefined-archimate-metrics

Making the Business Case for Contributing to Open Source
Today, pretty much all companies have embraced open source. But while they’re all keen to use open source, at lot fewer actually contribute to it.

And yet, there’s real value in doing so. Companies use their contribution to open source to boost recruiting (Facebook claims 75% of their new engineering recruit mention Facebook’s open source program as a key reason they accepted their offer), increase their market, build a moat around their business, or position themselves as leaders in their field.

In this talk, we’ll look at the different ways contributing to open source can benefit a business and become a competitive advantage. We’ll look at the open source strategies of different companies, big and small, and provide you with the knowledge to start building a business case for open source in your own company.

Bringing Open Data and Open Source Efforts Together To Sustain Open Innovation Models
Profoundly influenced by the research communities, Open Data has originally been developed as an extension of Open Source culture. Both are consequences of the digital transformation and are based on similar values : openness, transparency and collaboration. However, the Open Data movement emancipated itself from Open Source as the economical and politic dimensions increased. Both movements as specificites even if the share a lot of similarities regarding development model and valorization, and have to address the same issues concerning licenses and sustainability projects. This talk will identify and analyse some links between these movements in order to sustain Open Innovation models.

The end of Open Source? What's going on between VC Backed Open Source companies and Cloud providers ?
In this last year, we have seen an ongoing debate and flame wars about new Open Source licences, with Open Source VC backed companies changing their licences (Redis, MongoDB) and sometimes technical and business approach (Elastic Search) in a quite directed attack against large Cloud providers (AWS).
On one side, Open Source Companies state that their effort is being taken by the big cloud providers without giving back to the community. On the other side, the cloud providers and other actors are claiming the new approaches of the Open Source companies are not fully Open Source.
What's going on ?
What are the facts being the FUD of either side ?
What is at stake in this debate ?
Is this the end of Open Source and Free Software ?
What does this mean for launching new Open Source and Free Software businesses ?
Does this change how Open Source users and contributors should behave ?
If VC backed funding is not possible any more for "pure open source" are there alternatives ?
This presentation will show the view of an Open Source small business entrepreneur building an Open Source business for the last 15 years.
